Computer vs Paper based IELTS exam
IELTS on Computer vs. IELTS on Paper

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) introduced computer-based testing in 2017. In Australia, this test was first introduced, and it is now available in a number of countries. Both computer-based and paper-based IELTS tests follow the same format, time allocation, content, and question types. There is a face-to-face interview with IELTS examiner in both types, for Speaking test.
What should you choose between computer based IELTS or paper based IELTS exam?
Key Differences:
- Both types differ in the way the test is taken. In CB (computer-based) test, you have to type your answers on the screen for Reading, Writing and Listening tests, while you write them on paper in the paper-based test. Whereas an examiner conducts a face-to-face interview in Speaking module.
- For the paper-based listening test, this is to point out that you have 10 mins to transfer your answers from the question paper to the answer sheet at the end of the recording. While for the CB test, you have to jot down all your answers during the recording, and you are given only 2 mins at the end, to check your answers.
